5mths now and getting a tooth

So I have been thinking about Ashton starting to get in his teeth and yep he just may have one if not two coming in so I thought I really don't know how to clean a baby's new teeth?

This is what I learned tonight and hope this can help a few of you as well.

this is what the Experts have to say...

Baby's first tooth

Your baby's first tooth is a major milestone and something to celebrate. However, the process leading up to this occasion can sometimes be a trying one for parents and babies alike! While some babies simply sail through the process producing huge toothy grins, the majority experience common crankiness, drooling, crying and biting problems as their little teeth try to emerge from their gums – often leaving themselves and their parents at wits end! Teething problems can literally turn your precious ‘bundle of joy’ into a ‘bundle of misery’ – and just when the offending tooth has finally popped out, the next one comes pushing through!

You may be wondering why it’s important to clean baby’s teeth when he’s just going to lose them in a few years anyway. Well, look at his baby teeth as benchwarmers -- these first chompers hold the place for baby’s adult teeth. If they’re unhealthy or deformed in infancy, chances are his adult teeth will have some trouble growing in properly.

So, now that you know why baby’s teeth must be cleaned, how do you go about cleaning only a tooth or two? Gentle is the key word in dental care as baby’s teeth are still soft and sensitive. You can put a damp, clean gauze pad on your finger and gently wipe baby’s teeth, or use a washcloth. They even make disposable finger brushes specifically for babies (ask your pharmacist or dentist for recommendations). A baby brush with no more than three rows of soft bristles is also okay and should be available at major drugstores. If you do go this route, change the brush every two to four months because even though you can’t see it, bacteria are there.

Babies also don’t need toothpaste like you do. In fact, too much fluoride is toxic to their system. Remember, babies don’t spit; they swallow, so fluoride in water combined with fluoride in toothpaste is a major no-no. However, if baby does need a little flavor to take to brushing, use baby toothpaste (made without fluoride) -- half a pea-size will do.

While brushing twice a day is sufficient, it doesn’t hurt to wash baby’s teeth after meals and before bed. Make sure to also wipe the front of his tongue because it’s a haven for germs. Just don’t go too far back because he’ll gag.

When should baby go to the dentist? The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends “first visit by first birthday,” but in the meantime, you should keep baby’s diet healthy. For example, watch her sugar intake (including natural and artificial) and make sure she gets calcium, phosphorous, fluoride (yes, small amounts are okay), and vitamin C (good for the gums). And never let baby sleep with a bottle -- the sugars from breast milk and formula will rot her teeth. Serve juice watered down and in a cup so it spends less time on her teeth. And, if baby is on solids, add some cheese at the end of a meal: It encourages saliva production, which can wash away cavity-causing acids and sugars from the mouth.

5 months old !!!

He's 5 moths old today... Where has the time gone... This what he's up to now:

Our baby can't express his emotions in the same complex way you can. Although he can clearly let you know when he's happy or unhappy, his ability to demonstrate his love and sense of humor is just developing.

As your baby gets older, he may start to cry when you leave the room and get excited when you come back in. He may also raise his arms when he wants to be picked up and give you pats on the back.

And you'll probably see him getting your jokes — he'll laugh at funny expressions and try to make you laugh too. Keep the laughter flowing with your silly faces!.

What makes me smile !!!

Well last week was my birthday and I dint want to make a big deal out of it since there has been so much that has gone on since Ashton arrived. But MY greatest Best friends were there like always and made the day super special. Thank you Crystal, Amy and Nat... I love you girls and So happy to have you in my lift. It was a fun day with you girls... Great laughs, fun times, relaxing and pampering, cute presents, good cake and GREAT company. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! :)xoxox

I came home from my trip last night to find one new AMAZING birthday present from My Bubba and Aj was a new BEACH Cruiser... It's white and Pink... I just love it. Cant wait tell the sun comes back out and the rain goes away so I can take aj and I for a spin.

I was so excited about coming home I was hoping to spend my Saturday taking Ashton for a stroll around the block and to visit the neighbors.. Then head down to the park. But since we have had rain all day we played inside all day and went out in the back yard for a bit to catch a glimps of the rainbow and the sunset right before it started to rain again.

Ashton tired a new veg. today it was squash and he loved every bite. I couldn't get it in his mouth fast enough. He was so cute about it.

I probable have said this before on my blog but I look at my little guy and still say I cant even believe we created such a loving, unbelievable little pumpkin. It brings me tears of Joy to know that I will have this forever bond with Ashton the rest of his life and I love him unconditionally forever and would do anything for him no matter what. He is the joy of my day and the smile I cant wait to see in the morning when I walk into his room and look into his crib.He looks up and smiles so big and has this little giggle then puts up his arms and know what comes next.

Getting to see my two favorite boys every morning and every night is the high of my day and the low is when I travel and don't get to put my little pumpkin to bed, breaks my heart. And to not get to kiss my bubba good night and snuggle up next to him and go to sleep.

I'm so excited to say my friend Gina had her twins a few weeks ago and there doing great. I'm also so excited for Tony, Amy, and Soon-to-be Braysen there little bundles of joy to be here in 30 days or less... We just cant wait.

Also right around the corner is Natalie and Johnny will be having there little bundle of joy soon. We have her baby shower coming up and I cant wait.

Just think, it wont be long and will all have baby buggies pushing down the mall or into a restaurant.

Well that's it for now, I'm going to work on Ashton's book... Good Night
